We visited Scotland in the summer of 2016. We sailed from Falmouth direct to Gigha and then spent three months exploring as far north as Plockton before returning south. The weather was a dominant factor, but the scenery is breathtaking, the sailing interesting, the food and whisky legendary and the people are friendly too! We didn’t meet a single midge (but they might well have drowned).

Today, we measure our cruising experiences around the world against the benchmark of Scotland. Few measure up – and we’ll be back to explore the Outer Hebrides and the ‘top end’.
