I was lucky enough to grow up near Glandore in West Cork, so we have visited Ireland by boat more than once. With Escapade, we used a two-week cruise in 2015 between Kinsale and Derrynane to test out some of our logistics assumptions for a two week Atlantic crossing.
In 2023, we returned with the firm intention of pushing west to explore what was, in the Dark Ages, the edge of the known world. It’s spectacular, despite the changeable weather. There are a host of safe boltholes, but you need to be reasonably self-sufficient and plan carefully. The rewards are clear to see!
