Northern Spain isn’t nearly as far away as you might imagine. We had planned to coast-hop Atlantic France as far as La Rochelle and then jump across to somewhere west of Santander. In the end, we took advantage of a weather window, leaving from Belle Isle and crossing to Gijon in three days. The next few weeks in Galicia were amongst the most memorable of our entire two year odyssey.
